Vijender Singh Joins Asian Boxing Council in Major Honour

Indian boxing icon Vijender Singh has been appointed as a member of the Asian Boxing Council, marking a major step in his transition from elite athlete to global sports administrator. This role allows him to contribute to the development and governance of boxing across the continent.

Vijender, India’s first Olympic medallist in boxing, brings nearly two decades of experience at the highest levels of amateur and professional boxing. His extensive career includes a historic bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, along with multiple Commonwealth and Asian Games medals.

Speaking on his appointment, Vijender expressed gratitude to the Boxing Federation of India and said, “I am honoured to be appointed as a member of the Asian Boxing Council. I hope to contribute to the growth of Asian boxing, with special focus on nurturing Indian talent and helping our athletes achieve greater success.”
