VERY, VERY FAR AWAY!! Zelensky Paints Dismal Picture About Ending War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed pessimism about a swift end to the conflict with Russia, stating that a resolution "is still very, very far away." Despite recent tensions with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy remains optimistic about continued American support.
Speaking late Sunday before departing London, Zelenskyy emphasized the durability of Ukraine's partnership with the United States. "I think our relationship will continue because it’s more than an occasional relationship," he said in Ukrainian, highlighting the consistent aid provided by Washington over the past three years of war.
Zelenskyy's comments come amid strained Western diplomacy, as Ukraine's military struggles to counter a larger Russian force. His visit to London coincided with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer's push to bolster European support for Ukraine, especially given political uncertainties in the U.S. and Trump's recent outreach to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
European leaders are wary of Trump's intentions. Friedrich Merz, poised to become Germany's next leader following recent elections, suggested that a recent confrontation in the Oval Office was not spontaneous. "My assessment is that it wasn’t a spontaneous reaction to interventions by Zelenskyy, but apparently an induced escalation," Merz remarked Monday after reviewing the incident. He noted a "certain continuity" in Washington's recent behavior, describing the tone of the exchange as surprising.
Merz urged Europe to prepare for greater self-reliance in security matters over the coming years. "We should do a great, great deal more for our own security in the coming decades," he said. Nonetheless, he stressed the importance of maintaining trans-Atlantic ties, advocating efforts to "keep the Americans in Europe."
Zelenskyy's remarks and the European response underscore the ongoing challenges facing Ukraine as it navigates shifting geopolitical dynamics and a prolonged war effort.
