Uttar Pradesh closes all schools up to Class 12 till January 1 amid severe cold wave.
In response to the ongoing severe cold wave, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 12 across the state until January 1. The directive applies to all boards, including ICSE, CBSE, and UP Board, with provisions for online classes in unavoidable situations.
The Chief Minister instructed government officials to remain mobile and monitor ground conditions closely. Adequate arrangements for night shelters, blankets, bedding, and bonfires in public areas have been mandated to protect vulnerable populations from freezing temperatures.
During inspections of night shelters in Gorakhpur, CM Yogi Adityanath reviewed facilities and personally distributed blankets and food to the homeless. He emphasized that no person in the state should be forced to sleep in the open during the harsh cold, and adequate funds have been released to districts for relief efforts.
