US Senator From Trump’s Party Congratulates PM Modi On Record Tenure, Hails Strong India-US Ties
US senator congratulates PM Modi on record tenure, praises strong India-US relations.
United States Senator John Cornyn has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on reaching the milestone of becoming India’s longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister, highlighting what he described as strengthened India–US relations under Modi’s leadership.
Cornyn, a member of the Republican Party associated with US President Donald Trump’s political camp, said that ties between Washington and New Delhi were “strongest” during Modi’s tenure. In a post on X, he also credited the Indian Prime Minister with earning the trust of 1.4 billion citizens through three consecutive democratic mandates.
The US senator further stated that Modi’s leadership had been “transformational,” pointing to claims such as lifting 250 million people out of poverty and positioning India as the world’s fastest-growing major economy. His remarks come amid growing global attention on India’s rising economic and geopolitical profile and its expanding strategic partnership with the United States.

The congratulatory message follows Prime Minister Modi completing 4,399 days in office on Wednesday, marking 12 years of continuous leadership at the Centre. With this milestone, Modi becomes the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history, surpassing earlier records held by former Prime Ministers Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, both of whom also had long tenures in office.
While Nehru served continuously from independence until his death in 1964, Indira Gandhi held office for nearly 16 years across two separate terms. Modi’s tenure, however, is distinguished by its uninterrupted nature since 2014, making it the longest continuous stretch of leadership in India’s democratic history.
The milestone has been accompanied by political statements from both domestic and international figures, reflecting the broader significance of Modi’s leadership period in shaping India’s current domestic policies and foreign relations, particularly with key global partners such as the United States.
