US Prepares 10,000 Troops and Secret Plans as Trump Weighs Ground Operation Against Iran

The Pentagon reportedly prepares troops and secret plans targeting Iran's critical oil infrastructure.

The United States is reportedly considering a significant escalation in its military posture in the Middle East, with President Donald Trump weighing options that could include deploying up to 10,000 additional troops and potentially launching a ground operation against Iran. According to reports, discussions are underway within the White House and the Pentagon, with a final decision expected in the coming week as tensions continue to rise in the region.

The move follows Iran’s rejection of a 15-point proposal put forward by the United States aimed at de-escalating the conflict and reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is a crucial global oil transit route, and its disruption has raised concerns over energy supply chains and international trade. The ongoing conflict, which began on February 28 after US and Israeli strikes during nuclear negotiations, has since expanded, impacting multiple regions.

Sources cited in reports indicate that US defence officials are actively evaluating the deployment of additional combat units as part of contingency planning. If approved, the troop surge would mark a major increase in American military presence in the Middle East, signalling that Washington is preparing for a wider and potentially prolonged conflict scenario. The planning reportedly includes both defensive and offensive operational considerations.

Beyond troop deployment, reports suggest that US military strategists are also examining plans to secure key oil infrastructure within Iran. Such a move, if pursued, would aim to disrupt Iran’s economic capabilities while ensuring stability in global energy markets. However, such operations would carry significant geopolitical risks and could further escalate tensions across the region.

The conflict has already had far-reaching economic consequences, with rising global oil and fertiliser prices contributing to inflationary pressures worldwide. The instability has also raised concerns among international stakeholders about the potential for broader disruptions in trade and supply chains, particularly if hostilities intensify around critical maritime routes.

As diplomatic efforts remain stalled, the situation continues to evolve rapidly, with global attention focused on Washington’s next move. Any decision to escalate militarily could have profound implications not only for US-Iran relations but also for regional stability and the global economy, making the coming days crucial in determining the trajectory of the conflict.
