US Envoy Sergio Gor Meets Amazon Executives to Discuss India Expansion Plans

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor held discussions with senior Amazon executives on Monday, focusing on the company’s operations in India and opportunities to expand business ties between the United States and India. Gor said the talks covered Amazon’s existing footprint in the country, potential opportunities for American businesses and ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.

Gor highlighted the importance of American innovation and its role in global markets while describing the discussions with Amazon as productive. He said both sides were looking at areas where increased cooperation could create benefits for businesses and people in both countries. The meeting comes as India and the US continue discussions on expanding trade and investment ties across several sectors.

The US envoy also pointed to the broadening nature of the India-US relationship during an event in Bengaluru marking 250 years of American independence. He said cooperation between the two countries now extends beyond traditional areas and includes commerce, defence, aerospace, pharmaceuticals and space exploration. According to Gor, the growing relationship provides opportunities for both sides to pursue practical economic and strategic outcomes.

Gor said his focus in India is on achieving concrete results rather than simply looking back at historical milestones. The discussions with Amazon form part of the broader engagement between the US government and American businesses operating in India. Continued expansion by major US companies could contribute to investment, employment and technology cooperation while further connecting the economies of the two countries.

Gor also stressed that the India-US partnership would advance through practical cooperation and mutually beneficial initiatives. He said officials would continue looking for opportunities that provide advantages to both nations. The latest engagement with Amazon therefore reflects the wider effort to strengthen commercial ties alongside cooperation in strategic sectors, with business expansion remaining an important part of the bilateral relationship.
