UNBEARABLE!! French PM Slams US Over Pause In Ukraine Aid

France’s Prime Minister Francois Bayrou sharply criticized the United States on Tuesday for suspending military aid to Ukraine, calling the move “unbearable” and akin to abandoning the war-torn nation to a potential Russian victory. Speaking to French senators, Bayrou argued that the pause, enacted under President Donald Trump’s administration, signals acceptance of Russia’s aggression.
“The word ‘suspension’ fools no one,” Bayrou said. “In war, halting aid to an aggressed country means abandoning it and hoping its aggressor prevails.” The French leader, a key ally of President Emmanuel Macron, warned that Ukraine’s survival hinges on continued resistance. “If Russia stops fighting, the war ends. If Ukraine stops, Ukraine vanishes,” he stressed.
This marks Bayrou’s second rebuke of Trump’s policy in two days. On Monday, he condemned the White House’s aggressive pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, describing a recent Oval Office meeting—where Trump and Vice President JD Vance berated Zelenskyy—as a “staggering” display of “brutality” aimed at humiliating Ukraine’s leader and aligning with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s interests.
Bayrou, appointed in December, emphasized that the aid suspension threatens not just Ukraine’s military capabilities—such as munitions and intelligence—but also its morale. “The Ukrainians feel terribly abandoned and alone,” he told lawmakers.
Meanwhile, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu raised separate concerns, sharing video evidence of a Russian Su-35 jet buzzing a French Reaper drone over the eastern Mediterranean on Sunday. Calling it a “deliberate, unprofessional, and aggressive” act, Lecornu said the jet’s three close passes risked downing the drone in international airspace.
Bayrou’s outspoken stance underscores growing tensions between Paris and Washington over Ukraine, as France positions itself as a staunch supporter of Kyiv amid shifting U.S. priorities.
