Ukrainian Foreign Minister to Visit India on Wednesday; Trade on Agenda
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is set to visit Mumbai on Wednesday to strengthen trade relations with India.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is set to visit Mumbai on Wednesday to strengthen trade relations with India, amid ongoing efforts to rebuild the war-torn nation. The visit, part of a three-day trip to India starting Monday in New Delhi, underscores Ukraine’s push to deepen economic ties three years after Russia’s invasion disrupted the European country.
Sybiha will attend a trade event at the World Trade Centre in Mumbai, accompanied by a delegation including senior diplomats and Ukraine’s Ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, according to Vijay Kalantri, chairman of WTC. The event, co-organized by WTC and the All India Association of Industries, aims to connect Ukrainian officials with Indian infrastructure and construction firms, reflecting Ukraine’s focus on post-war reconstruction. Kalantri highlighted Sybiha’s ambition to double India-Ukraine trade within three years and his proposal to establish a consulate in Mumbai, India’s financial hub.
“Ukraine feels there are a lot of opportunities and wants to convey that it is open for business,” Kalantri said. The minister’s itinerary also includes meetings in New Delhi, where he is expected to engage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participate in the Raisina Dialogues, a key geopolitical conference.
The Mumbai event has drawn significant interest, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis invited alongside prominent industry leaders. Sybiha’s visit aligns with broader diplomatic efforts to secure peace and economic stability for Ukraine, leveraging India’s growing global influence and economic potential.
