UK Education Hub Opens in Delhi to Deepen India-UK Academic Ties

New platform aims to strengthen collaboration in education, research and skills between India and the United Kingdom.

In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in education and research, the United Kingdom formally launched the UK Education Hub in New Delhi on Wednesday. The initiative was inaugurated at the British Council and is designed to deepen institutional partnerships and align with the goals outlined in the India-UK Vision 2035 framework.

Speaking at the event, David Lammy emphasized the importance of investing in education to shape future generations of innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders. He noted that the Hub would serve as a structured platform to bring together governments, universities, and academic institutions, helping translate the shared ambitions of Vision 2035 into tangible outcomes.

The UK Education Hub will function as a central coordination mechanism to facilitate engagement between UK universities and Indian stakeholders. It aims to align collaborative efforts with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) and the UK’s International Education Strategy, ensuring mutual benefit and streamlined cooperation between both countries’ education systems.

Among its key responsibilities, the Hub will oversee the annual India-UK Education Dialogue and manage the UK Universities in India Members Programme. It will also coordinate requests from UK institutions seeking partnerships in India, support progress on mutual recognition of academic qualifications, and facilitate two-way education and skills missions.

Officials stated that the initiative reflects a shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth through knowledge exchange. By creating a single, structured interface for collaboration, the Hub is expected to enhance academic mobility, strengthen research partnerships, and promote long-term people-to-people ties between India and the UK.
