UK Condemns Netanyahu’s “Islamic Republic Of Britain” Comment As Unacceptable

The United Kingdom has criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for referring to Britain as an "Islamic republic", calling the remark "completely unacceptable" and saying the issue had been raised with the Israeli government. The comments have triggered a fresh diplomatic exchange between London and Jerusalem amid continuing disagreements over Britain's position on Israel. A UK government spokesperson on Friday rejected Netanyahu's description of Britain, saying the remarks crossed a line. "These comments are completely unacceptable and we have raised them with the Israeli Government," the spokesperson said.
