UGC NET 2026 Re-Exam: Reporting Time, Documents And Exam-Day Rules
UGC NET candidates must follow reporting and exam-day guidelines.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the UGC NET June 2026 re-examination for candidates appearing for the English, Commerce and Sociology papers on September 9 and 10. The re-examination was announced after the agency received complaints about multiple errors in the three question papers. A committee reviewing the issue identified factual, typographical, translation and grammatical errors, along with repeated questions.
According to the committee's findings, the affected papers contained misspelled names of prominent scholars, incorrect or garbled book titles and problems with the wording of some questions. The review also identified grammatical mistakes, gender and number agreement errors, punctuation issues and non-standard terms used for established concepts. A significant number of questions had also been repeated from earlier examinations.
The English paper will be held on September 9 from 9 am to 12 pm, followed by the Commerce paper from 3 pm to 6 pm on the same day. The Sociology re-examination will take place on September 10 from 9 am to 12 pm. Candidates appearing for the re-exam should carefully check their admit cards for their allotted examination centre and reporting requirements.

As per the examination guidelines, candidates must reach their examination centre two hours before the scheduled start of the test. This reporting time is required to complete frisking and registration formalities before entering the examination hall. The registration desk will close 30 minutes before the examination begins, making timely arrival important for all candidates.
Candidates have also been advised to read all instructions mentioned on their UGC NET admit card before appearing for the examination. They must carry a printed copy of the admit card downloaded from the NTA website, along with two passport-sized photographs and a valid photo identity proof. Candidates should ensure that all required documents are ready before leaving for the examination centre.
The NTA has specifically instructed candidates to check the question paper displayed on their allotted computer and confirm that it corresponds to the subject they opted for. If there is any discrepancy between the opted subject and the question paper available on the computer, candidates should immediately inform the invigilator. Following the examination-day instructions carefully will help candidates avoid difficulties during the re-examination.
