UAE Defence Ministry Confirms Interception Of 15 Ballistic Missiles, 119 Drones
UAE air defence intercepts 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones amid continued Iranian attacks.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) reported intercepting 15 ballistic missiles and 119 drones on Saturday, as attacks linked to Iran continued to target the Gulf nation. The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed the action in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
According to the ministry, UAE air defence systems detected 16 ballistic missiles on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Fifteen of these missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed, while one missile fell into the sea without causing damage. The ministry did not provide details on casualties or damage from drone attacks.
The interception comes amid escalating regional tensions following ongoing hostilities between Iran, the United States, and Israel, which have included airstrikes and retaliatory missile and drone attacks across the Middle East. The UAE, which shares strategic proximity to Iran, has been a frequent target of missile and drone activity during the current conflict.

Military analysts note that the scale of Saturday’s interceptions demonstrates both the advanced capabilities of the UAE’s integrated air defence systems and the increasing intensity of attacks originating from Iran or Iran-linked groups. Such operations underscore the heightened security risks faced by Gulf states in the ongoing regional conflict.
The UAE has repeatedly urged restraint and international support to prevent further escalation, emphasizing the need to protect civilian populations and critical infrastructure. Officials have highlighted that coordinated defensive measures are essential in countering threats from missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The situation in the Gulf remains tense, with authorities maintaining high alert levels across strategic cities and infrastructure. International observers continue to monitor developments closely, warning that continued exchanges of attacks and counterattacks could further destabilize the region.
