Two Private Buses Overturn in Andhra Pradesh, Killing Two and Injuring Several

Private buses overturn in Andhra, claim lives.

Two private buses overturned in separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, resulting in two fatalities and multiple injuries, highlighting persistent road safety concerns. In Sri Sathya Sai district, a Jabbar Travels bus traveling from Bengaluru to Hyderabad with 25 passengers collided with an Eicher vehicle on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway before overturning. Authorities suspect excessive speed as the primary cause, and Sikepalli police have seized the vehicle for investigation.

The collision claimed one life and left five passengers injured, who were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Rescue operations were conducted efficiently by local police, who secured the site and cleared the wreckage to restore traffic flow. The incident disrupted the highway for several hours, underscoring the vulnerability of high-traffic corridors to preventable accidents.

In Eluru district, a Bharathi Travels bus en route from Eluru to Hyderabad overturned near Jubilee Nagar in Lingapalem mandal, killing one passenger and seriously injuring several others among the 17 on board. Sub-Inspector Venkanna and Dharmavaram Police Station personnel led the rescue, extracting trapped individuals and ensuring their transfer to Lingapalem Government Hospital for immediate medical attention.

A third incident in Telangana’s Karimnagar district saw a TSRTC bus from Metpalli Depot ram into a paddy-laden tractor near Renigunta Bridge, injuring 15 passengers. All were transported to a local hospital, where treatment commenced without delay. The sequence of accidents has intensified scrutiny on vehicle maintenance, driver training, and enforcement of traffic regulations.

BJP National General Secretary Bandi Sanjay Kumar described the events as “heartbreaking” and directed District Collector Premela Satpati to ensure optimal care for the injured. He urged the state government to prioritize road safety measures and awareness campaigns, especially following a deadly TSRTC bus-truck collision in Rangareddy district a day earlier that claimed 20 lives.
