A Turkish Airlines flight diverts safely to Kolkata after a right engine fire.

A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Tuesday after reporting a fire in one of its engines mid-air, prompting authorities to declare a full emergency. The incident occurred on February 4, 2026, involving an Airbus A330 operating from Kathmandu to Istanbul.

According to official sources, the aircraft, operating as flight THY-727, reported a fire in its right engine shortly after takeoff. The pilots immediately alerted air traffic control and diverted the flight to Kolkata as a precautionary measure. A full emergency was declared at the airport at around 1:38 pm to ensure that all rescue and firefighting services were on standby ahead of the landing.

The Civil Aviation Ministry said that the flight crew managed to bring the situation under control by 1:31 pm. However, as a safety measure, the aircraft continued its diversion with one engine shut down. The plane landed safely in Kolkata without further incident, officials confirmed.
