TTP Releases Video of IED Attack That Killed Seven Policemen in KP

TTP footage captures deadly IED blast killing 7 policemen in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released graphic footage showing the precise moment an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated beneath a police armoured vehicle in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday. The video, which surfaced on Wednesday, depicts a massive explosion sending thick black smoke skyward and hurling vehicle debris across the area. The powerful blast left a deep crater on the road and flung the heavily damaged vehicle several metres away from the impact site.

The disturbing clip further reveals alleged TTP militants approaching the wreckage and opening fire at injured police personnel from close range. Attackers are seen looting firearms and ammunition from the scene before withdrawing. Authorities confirmed the vehicle was engaged in routine patrol duties when it was targeted by the concealed IED in a remote stretch of the district.

The attack claimed the lives of seven policemen, including a Station House Officer, a Sub-Inspector, three members of the Elite Force, and the driver. Three other officers sustained injuries in the incident. The assault has been widely condemned as a brazen act of terrorism targeting law enforcement personnel dedicated to maintaining security in the volatile region.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a strong condemnation of the attack, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He described the fallen officers as martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty to protect national peace and stability. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also expressed profound grief, conveyed sympathies to the families and colleagues of the deceased, and directed senior officials to submit a detailed report on the circumstances surrounding the blast.

The release of the video by TTP has intensified scrutiny on the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant groups continue to carry out targeted operations against security forces. The incident underscores the persistent threat posed by improvised explosive devices and the challenges faced by Pakistani authorities in countering such attacks in the province.
