Trump Warns Iran Against Fresh Attacks Vows Overwhelming Response
Trump vows overwhelming response if Iran follows through on retaliation threats.
US President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Iran against escalating military retaliation following the reported killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli strikes. Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump cautioned Tehran that any intensified attack would trigger an unprecedented American response.
“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before,” Trump wrote. “They better not do that, however, because if they do, we will hit them with a force that has never been seen before!” His remarks came amid rising regional tensions and reports of Iranian threats issued after confirmation of Khamenei’s death.
Iranian state television earlier acknowledged the killing of the 86-year-old leader, who had ruled the country since 1989. Authorities announced a 40-day national mourning period and declared seven public holidays. Senior Iranian officials vowed that retaliation against the United States and Israel would be decisive, describing the strike as an act of aggression.

The developments follow a large-scale US-Israeli military operation targeting sites in Tehran and other parts of Iran. Washington has framed the action as necessary for regional and global security, while Tehran has condemned it as a violation of its sovereignty. Missile and drone exchanges have since been reported across parts of the Middle East, heightening fears of a broader conflict.
International observers have urged restraint as diplomatic channels strain under the weight of escalating rhetoric and military activity. With both sides signaling readiness for further action, the situation remains volatile, and the risk of a wider confrontation continues to grow.
