Trump Says He Ended Nine Wars, Targets Russia-Ukraine As Tenth Peace Deal

Trump claims he ended nine wars and aims to resolve Russia-Ukraine conflict next.

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his claim of having helped resolve multiple global conflicts and expressed optimism that the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war could become the next major dispute to be settled, saying he would “love to” make it the tenth conflict brought to an end.Speaking to reporters at the White House before departing for a dinner engagement in Virginia, Trump said he hoped to see an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine. “I would love to see that war end. I have settled eight wars and actually nine, and it looks like we could have ten,” he said, adding that stopping the conflict would be a positive outcome.

Trump further stated that he would “love to make that the tenth” resolution, referring to his broader foreign policy claims since returning to office. He emphasised that an end to hostilities would be desirable and reiterated his interest in seeing the fighting halted as soon as possible. The US President also referenced a short ceasefire arrangement he announced earlier, describing a three-day pause in hostilities between Russia and Ukraine. According to his post on social media platform Truth Social, the ceasefire was set to run from May 9 to May 11 and was intended to suspend what he described as “all kinetic activity” between the two sides.

Trump said the timing of the proposed truce aligned with Russia’s Victory Day commemorations marking the Soviet Union’s role in World War II, noting that Ukraine also shared historical links to the conflict’s outcome. In his remarks, Trump framed the temporary ceasefire as a potential stepping stone toward a broader peace process, though he did not provide details on ongoing diplomatic efforts or negotiations between the warring sides.

He added that extending or building on such pauses in fighting would be preferable if it helped bring the conflict to an end.The Russia-Ukraine war, which has continued for several years, remains one of the most significant ongoing geopolitical conflicts, with repeated attempts at ceasefires and negotiations having so far failed to produce a lasting settlement. Trump's comments come amid renewed international focus on possible diplomatic pathways to reduce tensions and halt the fighting.
