Trump: Iran Agrees to 20 Oil Shipments, Responds to 15-Point Plan

Trump: Iran responds to US ceasefire plan, oil shipments agreed.

US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States is engaged in both direct and indirect negotiations with Iran, following reports that Tehran had agreed to allow 20 oil-carrying ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz starting Monday.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Washington, Trump described the Iranian concession as a “sign of respect” and indicated that discussions on a 15-point ceasefire plan proposed by the US are ongoing. “I would only say that we’re doing extremely well in that negotiation, but you never know with Iran,” he said. He added that Iran had responded to most of the points in the plan, without providing further details.

Trump emphasized that Iran appears to be cooperating on the ceasefire framework. “They’re agreeing with us on the plan,” he stated, suggesting progress in resolving tensions, though he did not specify which points Tehran had accepted or rejected.

In a separate comment, the former president referred to Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, claiming he was “seriously wounded,” but did not provide independent verification or details regarding his condition.

The Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil shipments, has been a focal point of regional tensions, and any movement of oil tankers through the waterway is closely monitored by international observers. Trump’s remarks signal a cautious optimism over ongoing diplomatic efforts, even as the situation in the region remains sensitive.

Analysts note that while Trump’s comments suggest partial agreement from Tehran, the lack of detail on the ceasefire plan and the contentious tone of his statements underscore the unpredictable nature of US-Iran negotiations. The international community continues to watch closely for developments that could affect regional stability and global oil markets.
