Trump FURIOUS at Netanyahu Over Surprise Syria Strikes

White House reveals Trump called Netanyahu to rectify unannounced attacks.

President Donald Trump was blindsided by Israel’s recent airstrikes on Syria and a Gaza church, prompting urgent calls to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address the incidents, the White House confirmed Monday. The attacks, which hit Damascus and Sweida, targeted Syrian government sites, with Israel claiming they aimed to curb troop movements amid local clashes.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, “The president was caught off guard by the bombing in Syria and the Gaza church strike. He quickly called Netanyahu to rectify both situations.” The Gaza incident, which damaged the only Catholic church in the region, was attributed to a “stray missile,” with Netanyahu expressing regret to Pope Leo.

Despite a close alliance, underscored by Netanyahu’s third White House visit this month, tensions surfaced as Trump was not informed of the strikes. Leavitt emphasized Trump’s frequent communication with “Bibi” and noted a U.S.-brokered ceasefire in Syria on Friday, signaling de-escalation.

Trump’s support for Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, includes lifting U.S. sanctions and removing a bounty, reflecting a push to stabilize the region. The strikes, however, complicated these efforts, raising questions about coordination between the allies.
