Trump Extends Gaza 'Board of Peace' Invitation to Vladimir Putin

Kremlin confirms Trump invited Putin to Gaza 'Board of Peace'; Russia says it is clarifying details of the offer.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been invited to join US President Donald Trump's proposed “Board of Peace”, a body aimed at overseeing governance, reconstruction, and stability efforts in postwar Gaza, the Kremlin confirmed on Monday. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, including AFP, that “President Putin also received an invitation to join this Board of Peace,” and Russia is seeking to “clarify all the nuances” of the offer with Washington.

The Board of Peace initiative is part of the Trump administration’s broader effort to involve international partners in rebuilding Gaza following recent hostilities. While details on the structure, authority, and membership of the Board remain under discussion, the proposed initiative signals a rare instance of cooperation between the US and Russia in a region where the two powers have historically backed opposing sides.

Moscow officials indicated that consultations with Washington would follow to understand the scope and implications of the Board’s mandate. This cautious engagement reflects Russia’s approach to carefully navigating its role in Middle East conflicts while maintaining its diplomatic and strategic interests.

The initiative also comes amid continuing humanitarian and infrastructure challenges in Gaza. US officials hope the Board can coordinate international efforts for governance reform, humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction, while ensuring that all involved parties have a say in the decision-making process.

Analysts note that including Russia in the Board of Peace underscores the Trump administration’s preference for multilateral participation in post-conflict scenarios, potentially balancing influence between regional and global powers. However, the effectiveness of such an initiative will depend on clear agreements on authority, funding, and the involvement of other international actors.

While the proposal remains in its early stages, the invitation reflects Washington’s intent to bring major global players together to manage postwar reconstruction in Gaza. Both Russia and the US will continue discussions to clarify roles, responsibilities, and expectations, setting the stage for potential collaboration in one of the Middle East’s most sensitive conflict zones
