Trump Declines to Comment on Potential New Strikes on Iran
Trump declines comment on Iran strikes during briefing exchange.
U.S. President Donald Trump declined to directly answer questions about possible new military strikes on Iran, brushing off a reporter with the remark, “Why would I tell you that?”, during a tense exchange at a press briefing.
Speaking to journalists in Washington, Trump was asked whether the United States was considering additional strikes on Iran amid ongoing tensions in the region. Instead of addressing the question, he deflected it, effectively ending the line of inquiry without confirmation or denial.
The moment came shortly after Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with Iran’s latest diplomatic proposal, saying the offer did not meet U.S. expectations. He also pointed to internal divisions within Iran’s leadership, suggesting that shifting positions among different factions were complicating negotiations.

Trump added that talks with Tehran were still ongoing but unstable, noting that progress frequently stalled as new positions emerged from within Iran’s political structure. However, he did not provide details on what conditions were being discussed or rejected.
When pressed further on future military options, Trump framed the situation as a binary choice between diplomacy and force. “Do we want to go and just blast the hell out of them and finish them forever—or do we want to try and make a deal?” he said, adding that he would prefer a negotiated outcome “on a human basis.”
The exchange reflects continued uncertainty over U.S. strategy toward Iran, as diplomatic efforts remain active alongside heightened military and geopolitical tensions in the region.
