Trump Breaks Decade-Long CPAC Streak, Skips Meet Amid Escalating Iran Conflict
Trump skips CPAC after a decade, prioritizing Iran conflict schedule and Miami investment summit appearance.
U.S. President Donald Trump will not attend the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) for the first time in a decade, marking a notable absence from one of the most prominent gatherings of conservative leaders in the country. A White House official confirmed the decision on Wednesday, citing scheduling constraints tied to ongoing international developments.
Trump, who has been a central figure at CPAC since 2016 and a regular keynote speaker, is skipping this year’s conference due to a “busy schedule” amid the continuing Iran conflict, according to the official who spoke on condition of anonymity. The four-day event is being held near Dallas, Texas, and runs from Wednesday through Saturday, with Trump previously expected to headline the final day.
Despite his absence from CPAC, Trump is scheduled to appear at FII Priority Summit in Miami on Friday afternoon. The summit, backed by Saudi investment interests, focuses on global economic trends and investment opportunities, and is expected to draw influential political and business figures.

CPAC remains a key platform for Republican leaders to energize their base ahead of the upcoming November midterm elections. The elections will determine whether the Republican Party retains control of Congress during the final two years of Trump’s presidency, making the event particularly significant for party strategy and voter mobilization.
This year’s conference also carries a strong international dimension. Among the speakers is Reza Pahlavi, who has positioned himself as a potential interim leader in Iran in the event of a political transition. His participation reflects the broader geopolitical concerns shaping the agenda.
In addition, Karol Nawrocki is slated to attend, highlighting growing ties between conservative leaders across different regions. The presence of international figures underscores CPAC’s expanding influence beyond U.S. politics, even as Trump’s absence marks a departure from recent tradition.
