Reliance Industries to Invest $300 Billion in New Texas Oil Refinery Backed by Trump

Texas refinery investment is the biggest deal in US history, boosting national energy security.

Donald Trump has announced that the United States could see its first newly built oil refinery in nearly five decades, backed by a massive investment from Mukesh Ambani’s company, Reliance Industries. In a post shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump described the proposed project as a historic step for the US energy sector and claimed it would represent one of the largest industrial investments in the country’s history.

According to Trump, the planned refinery will involve an investment of around $300 billion and will be constructed at the port of Brownsville in Texas. The project would mark the first new oil refinery built in the United States in roughly 50 years, highlighting a significant development for the country’s energy infrastructure. Trump called the agreement a “landmark deal", adding that the investment from Reliance Industries demonstrates strong international confidence in the US energy market.

Trump also praised Reliance Industries as a “tremendous company” and emphasized that the refinery would strengthen American energy independence. The facility is expected to process American shale oil and is reportedly being developed by a company called America First Refining. Trump said the refinery would boost national security, increase domestic energy production, and generate billions of dollars in economic activity and employment opportunities.

Reliance Industries, led by Mukesh Ambani, already operates the world’s largest oil refining complex in Jamnagar, India, and is one of the biggest energy companies in Asia. With a market capitalisation of around $206 billion, the company has expanded its footprint across the energy, petrochemicals, telecommunications, and retail sectors. If the project moves forward as planned, the proposed Texas refinery could become one of the largest and most advanced energy facilities in the world, while also strengthening economic ties between India and the United States.
