Trump Alleges "Triple Sabotage" at UN, Demands Arrests

President claims conspiracy after escalator, teleprompter, and audio mishaps.

President Donald Trump has accused unknown perpetrators of orchestrating a "triple sabotage" against him during his recent appearance at the United Nations General Assembly. Labeling the incidents as "very sinister events," Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to demand arrests and a full investigation by the Secret Service. The claims come amid his fiery speech at the UN, where he lambasted the organization for failing to live up to its founding ideals and criticized European allies for their policies on immigration and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, warning that their nations were spiraling into chaos.

The first alleged act of sabotage involved an escalator that suddenly ground to a halt while Trump and his entourage were riding it, leaving them momentarily stranded. Trump described the stoppage as "absolutely sabotage" and insisted it was no accident, calling for the immediate arrest of those responsible. However, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric offered a more mundane explanation, suggesting that a videographer from the U.S. delegation, who dashed ahead of the group, might have inadvertently activated the emergency stop mechanism at the escalator's summit. Despite this, Trump urged the UN to preserve all security footage, emphasizing that the Secret Service would thoroughly probe the matter to uncover any foul play.

Adding to the drama, Trump reported that his teleprompter abruptly went "stone cold dark" midway through his address, forcing him to improvise parts of his speech. This technical glitch, he argued, was another deliberate attempt to undermine his message. Yet, a UN official, speaking anonymously due to the delicate nature of the situation, clarified that the White House team was solely responsible for managing and operating the president's teleprompter equipment. This revelation raises questions about whether the issue stemmed from internal mishandling rather than external interference, though Trump remains adamant that it fits into a larger pattern of targeted disruption.

The third and perhaps most baffling incident involved the audio system during Trump's speech, which he claimed was completely muted for the audience in the hall. According to Trump, attendees could only hear his words through interpreters via earpieces, and even his wife, Melania Trump, confided that she struggled to make out what he was saying from her seat. "This wasn't a coincidence, this was triple sabotage," Trump declared emphatically, portraying the events as a coordinated conspiracy designed to humiliate him on the global stage. He speculated that these disruptions were meant to silence his criticisms of the UN's inefficiencies and the broader failures of international diplomacy.

While Trump's allegations have fueled speculation among his supporters about deep-state involvement or foreign meddling, skeptics point to the UN's ongoing operational challenges. The world body has been grappling with a severe "liquidity crisis" exacerbated by delayed payments from major donors, including the United States, its largest contributor. As a cost-saving measure, elevators and escalators at UN facilities in New York and Geneva have been sporadically shut down in recent months, leading to frequent complaints from staff and visitors alike. Such routine malfunctions could explain the escalator issue, but Trump dismisses these as convenient excuses, insisting on a criminal probe to expose what he believes is a deliberate attack.

As the story unfolds, the Secret Service's involvement could shed light on whether these were indeed acts of sabotage or simply unfortunate coincidences in an aging infrastructure. Trump's call for accountability has reignited debates about security protocols for high-profile figures at international venues, with some experts warning that escalating such claims without evidence might erode trust in global institutions further. For now, the former president's narrative of a "triple sabotage" continues to captivate and divide public opinion, leaving many to wonder if there's more to the UN mishaps than meets the eye.
