Trump Administration Rolls Out $3,000 Self-Deportation Offer Till End-2025
Trump administration triples payout for voluntary departure.
The Department of Homeland Security has announced a limited-time holiday incentive, offering undocumented immigrants a $3,000 stipend plus paid travel home if they voluntarily self-deport by the end of 2025. This program, promoted as a generous Christmas-season opportunity, aims to encourage swift departures while reducing the financial burden of enforced removals on taxpayers.
This offer triples the previous $1,000 payout introduced earlier in the year, marking a significant escalation in efforts to encourage voluntary departures amid ongoing mass deportation initiatives. Officials estimate that voluntary self-deportation costs far less than the average $17,000 required for arrest, detention, and forced removal, positioning the stipend as a cost-effective alternative.
Participants must register through the CBP Home app, a rebranded platform originally developed under the prior administration for asylum processing but now repurposed for self-deportation. The app allows users to submit departure intent, coordinate travel, and confirm exit, streamlining the process for eligible individuals.

Eligible individuals who complete the process will also receive forgiveness of certain civil fines or penalties associated with overstaying in the United States. Additionally, the government covers airfare to the home country, with payments disbursed after departure verification.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that this incentive represents a final opportunity, warning that those who decline will face arrest, deportation, and permanent bans from returning, as enforcement operations intensify in the coming year. According to DHS figures, 1.9 million undocumented migrants have voluntarily self-deported since January 2025, with tens of thousands utilizing the CBP Home program.
