Tragedy on Jammu-Srinagar Highway: Woman Killed in Udhampur Bus Crash

A devastating accident on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway claimed the life of 30-year-old Santosh Devi when a mini bus overturned near Jakhani in Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Wednesday morning. The crash, which occurred around 9:15 AM, also injured nine other passengers, with two in critical condition.

The mini bus, traveling from Chenani to Udhampur, flipped after the driver swerved to avoid a collision with an oncoming truck, according to police officials. The injured were rushed to the Associated Hospital of Government Medical College Udhampur, where Santosh Devi succumbed to her injuries. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap, with preliminary reports pointing to the driver’s maneuver as a key factor.

This incident adds to a series of recent accidents on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, a critical route prone to hazards due to its terrain and heavy traffic. Police have taken cognizance of the case and are working to ensure support for the victims’ families while urging drivers to exercise caution on the busy corridor.
