TMC Faces Internal Crisis As Saayoni Ghosh, Dev And Yusuf Pathan Join Rebel Camp

Saayoni Ghosh, Dev and Yusuf Pathan named among TMC rebel MPs list.

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) is facing intensifying internal turbulence amid reports of a growing “rebel” faction within its parliamentary ranks, with allegations that nearly 20 party MPs have expressed willingness to distance themselves from the party and align with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The claims, made by TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, have added to mounting political uncertainty within the party following its recent electoral setbacks.

According to the allegations, a letter purportedly signed by multiple TMC MPs was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, indicating support for the NDA. While the authenticity of the document has not been independently verified, the development has triggered widespread speculation about possible divisions within the party’s national leadership structure.

The list of MPs reportedly associated with the rebel camp includes several prominent names such as Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Yusuf Pathan, Saayoni Ghosh, and actor-turned-politician Dev (Deepak Adhikari), along with others including Arup Chakraborty, Bapi Haldar, Jagadish Basunia, Prasun Banerjee, Sharmila Sarkar, Partha Bhowmick, Asit Mal, Mitali Bag, Satabdi Roy, Mala Roy, Abu Taher Khan, Kalipada Soren, June Malia, Khalilur Rahaman, and Rachna Banerjee. The reported grouping reflects a mix of first-time MPs and seasoned politicians, adding to the complexity of the internal situation.

However, several leaders whose names surfaced in connection with the alleged list have publicly denied any involvement. Notably, Asansol MP Shatrughan Sinha and Jaynagar MP Pratima Mondal have rejected claims linking them to the purported rebel camp, calling the reports misleading. Their denials have further deepened uncertainty over the actual extent of dissent within the party. The internal situation is not limited to the Lok Sabha alone, with reports of resignations and shifting alignments also emerging from other political wings of the party.

Observers note that while the TMC continues to be a dominant political force in West Bengal, the current wave of allegations highlights possible fractures within its organisational structure at both state and national levels. As the party leadership has yet to issue a comprehensive official response, the developments remain fluid, with political analysts closely watching whether the alleged rebel grouping consolidates or collapses amid denials and counterclaims from within the party.
