#JustIn: Woods Posts Bail After Spending Mandatory Eight Hours in Florida Jail Post DUI Arrest
Tiger Woods arrested on DUI suspicion after Florida crash, released on bail hours later.
Tiger Woods was released on bail just hours after being arrested following a car crash in Florida, where authorities suspected him of driving under the influence. The incident occurred on a residential road near his home on Jupiter Island, adding another chapter to the golfer’s history of driving-related controversies.
According to local officials, Woods was allegedly travelling at high speed when his Land Rover attempted to overtake a truck on a two-lane road. During the manoeuvre, the vehicle clipped the rear of the truck’s trailer and overturned onto its side. Despite the severity of the crash, Woods escaped without injuries and managed to crawl out of the vehicle on his own.
John Budensiek, the Martin County Sheriff, stated that Woods showed “signs of impairment” at the scene. While a breathalyser test did not detect alcohol, investigators believe he may have been under the influence of medication or drugs. Woods declined to undergo a urine test, which could have provided further clarity, leading to his arrest under suspicion of impaired driving.

Under Florida law, Woods was required to remain in custody for at least eight hours before being eligible for bail. Authorities confirmed that he was kept separate from other inmates during his detention to ensure his safety, given his high-profile status.
This is not the first such incident involving Woods. In 2017, he was arrested under similar circumstances after being found asleep in his car and later admitted to taking a mix of prescription medications. He eventually pleaded guilty to reckless driving in that case. Additionally, Woods survived a serious crash in 2021 that resulted in major leg injuries and raised concerns about the future of his career.
Reacting to the news, Donald Trump described Woods as a close friend and expressed concern, acknowledging that the golfer has been facing personal challenges. The incident comes at a crucial time, as Woods was reportedly considering participation in the upcoming Masters Tournament and other professional commitments.
At 50, Woods has been working through multiple injuries and surgeries in an attempt to return to competitive golf. Despite these setbacks, he remains one of the sport’s most iconic figures, with 15 major championships and a record-equalling 82 PGA Tour titles, tied with Sam Snead.
The latest development raises fresh questions about Woods’ fitness, both physically and personally, as he continues his efforts to return to the sport while managing ongoing health and legal challenges.
