Thailand Ends Visa-Free Entry, Now Demands Cash Proof From Indians

The Embassy of India in Bangkok has issued a fresh travel advisory for Indian nationals planning to visit Thailand, outlining updated entry requirements that include mandatory documents and proof of sufficient funds. Travellers have been advised to carry at least 20,000 Thai Baht, equivalent to around Rs 58,000, to avoid difficulties during immigration checks.

The advisory, issued on July 2, comes after Thailand ended its visa-free entry arrangement for Indian passport holders. Indian travellers must now pay closer attention to the latest visa and immigration requirements before booking their journey and prepare the necessary documentation in advance. The embassy has stressed that failure to meet the required conditions could lead to problems at the point of entry.

Among the key requirements is proof that a traveller has sufficient funds to support the visit. Indian nationals may be asked to show at least 20,000 Thai Baht, or approximately Rs 58,000, during immigration checks. Travellers should therefore ensure that they can provide acceptable evidence of the required funds along with other documents sought by Thai authorities.
