Thailand, Cambodia Seal Midnight Ceasefire Deal

Historic truce ends deadly border clashes.

Thailand and Cambodia have committed to an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire starting at midnight, halting violent border disputes, announced Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. As ASEAN chair, Anwar mediated the talks, fostering a mutual agreement to restore peace.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai finalized the deal, signaling a return to normalcy. The leaders expressed optimism, sealing the agreement with a handshake at a brief press conference.

This breakthrough marks a significant step toward regional stability, easing tensions that have long plagued the Thai-Cambodian border.
