Test‑Drive Tata Sierra Hits Auto, Bikes Then Falls Into 20‑Foot Pit

A Tata Sierra test drive crashed into parked vehicles then plunged into a deep construction pit, injuring three.

A dramatic video circulating online shows a Tata Sierra SUV ploughing into several parked vehicles before crashing into a deep construction pit in Panchpakhadi, Thane (West), in what police have described as a test‑drive mishap. The incident unfolded on March 10, 2026, and has drawn attention both for its severity and the harrowing footage that followed the sequence of collisions.

According to local authorities, the SUV was being taken out from a nearby showroom for a road test when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. Before careening off the road, the Tata Sierra struck a parked auto‑rickshaw and two motorcycles, damaging them severely. The momentum then carried it through the barricades of a construction site.

Witnesses at the scene described the vehicle as moving at a brisk pace before it breached the site boundary and plunged into a 30‑foot‑deep pit filled with slush and debris. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash, where they found the SUV overturned and badly damaged from the impacts.

Three people — two passengers and one showroom staffer — sustained injuries in the accident. Priya Paswan (36) suffered head and waist injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital. The other two, identified as Mithilesh Paswan (48) and showroom employee Chetan Deshmukh (30), suffered minor injuries. Airbags deployed during the collision, which local disaster management officials said likely mitigated more severe harm to the occupants.

The Naupada police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash, including whether vehicle speed, road conditions, or driver error were factors. Civic workers who first responded at the scene said the damaged construction fencing allowed the SUV to enter the pit, illuminating safety gaps at work sites in busy urban areas.

Video clips shared on social media have sparked debate about vehicle safety and test‑drive protocols, with some commentators highlighting the role of driver training and showroom supervision in preventing such incidents. Authorities have not commented on whether charges will be filed pending completion of the probe.
