Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Inspects Ongoing Works at Mir Alam Tank

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted an on-site inspection of the suspension bridge works under way at Mir Alam Tank in Hyderabad on Thursday, reviewing the progress of the project and the measures being taken to protect the historic urban water body. Accompanied by officials from the relevant departments, the Chief Minister, who also holds the Municipal Administration and Urban Development portfolio, examined the construction activity and received detailed visual presentations explaining the scope and current status of the works.

During the visit Mr. Reddy issued specific instructions aimed at safeguarding the tank from pollution and improving its capacity to manage excess water. He directed officials to ensure that sewage does not enter Mir Alam Tank under any circumstances, stressing the importance of maintaining the water quality of the lake. In addition, he ordered that the tank be widened so that floodwaters can flow freely into the Musi river, thereby enhancing the overall drainage system and reducing the risk of local inundation during periods of heavy rainfall.

The inspection allowed the Chief Minister to assess both the engineering aspects of the suspension bridge and the broader environmental considerations linked to the tank’s role within the city’s water network. Officials used images and on-ground explanations to illustrate the interventions already under way and the further steps required to meet the directives issued on the spot. The focus remained on integrating structural improvements with practical solutions for pollution control and flood management.

Mr. Reddy’s presence at the site underlined the priority attached to the timely and effective completion of the bridge project and the associated protective measures.
