Teen In ICU, Six Others Injured in East Delhi Housing Society Attack

Teen critical, six others injured in East Delhi housing society attack.

At least seven people, including a 13-year-old boy, were injured after a group of armed men allegedly attacked residents of a housing society in East Delhi's Mayur Vihar Phase 3 late on Sunday night. According to police, two of the injured—the minor and a 40-year-old man identified as Sanjay—remain admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the remaining five victims were discharged after receiving medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to identify those involved.

The violence reportedly occurred at the DDA MIG Flats society in Pocket 2 of Mayur Vihar Phase 3. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident began with an argument between an unidentified man and a young woman inside the residential complex. What initially appeared to be a verbal altercation quickly escalated, leading to a violent confrontation that drew the attention of other residents in the area.

According to police, the 13-year-old boy arrived at the spot on his scooter while the argument was taking place. Investigators said the scooter's headlight accidentally shone on the face of the unidentified man, allegedly provoking him. The accused is said to have assaulted the minor and vandalised his scooter, further escalating tensions within the housing society.

Police said the situation intensified when a group of armed men allegedly joined the confrontation and attacked residents who had gathered at the scene. Several people sustained injuries during the assault before the attackers fled. Emergency services were alerted, and the injured were shifted to hospital, where two victims continue to receive critical care while others have since been discharged.

Law enforcement officials have begun collecting evidence from the scene, including eyewitness statements and available CCTV footage from the housing society. Investigators are working to identify the suspects involved in the attack and establish the sequence of events that led to the violence. Police have not yet disclosed whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The attack has raised concerns among residents regarding security within the housing complex and the rapid escalation of disputes into violent confrontations. Authorities have assured residents that a thorough investigation is underway and that those responsible will be identified and proceeded against in accordance with the law. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
