Tamil Nadu To Publish Final Electoral Rolls On February 23
Final voter lists to be issued statewide ahead of key electoral preparations.
The final electoral rolls for Tamil Nadu will be published on February 23, Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik announced on Sunday, marking the completion of the annual summary revision process in the state. Patnaik said the revision exercise was carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, with booth-level officers conducting field verification and addressing claims and objections received during the stipulated period. The publication of the final rolls will formalise the updated list of eligible voters across all Assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
The summary revision process typically involves the inclusion of new voters who have attained the age of 18, deletion of names of deceased or shifted electors, and correction of entries such as name, address, or photograph. Officials stated that political parties were given copies of the draft rolls and opportunities to raise objections to ensure transparency and accuracy.

The updated electoral roll assumes significance ahead of forthcoming electoral exercises in the state, as it forms the foundation for conducting free and fair elections. Authorities have urged citizens to verify their details once the final rolls are published and report any discrepancies through prescribed channels.
Tamil Nadu has a substantial electorate spread across urban and rural constituencies, making periodic revision crucial to maintaining the integrity of the democratic process. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every eligible voter is enrolled while preventing duplication or ineligible entries in the rolls.
