Stacey Taylor Pleads Guilty To Smuggling Indians Into US Through Canada Border

A New York woman has pleaded guilty to her role in an international human smuggling conspiracy that illegally brought people, primarily from India, into the United States across the country's northern border. Stacey Taylor, 43, of Plattsburgh, admitted her involvement in a failed smuggling operation in January 2025 involving migrants who had allegedly entered the US from Canada without inspection. The case highlights the risks associated with organised attempts to move people across the US-Canada border outside established immigration procedures.

According to court documents, US Border Patrol agents stopped Taylor's vehicle near Churubusco, New York, during the early morning hours of January 20, 2025. Agents found four men inside the vehicle when they conducted the traffic stop. Further investigation determined that the men had allegedly just crossed the US-Canadian border illegally and had entered the United States without going through an authorised inspection point. The incident occurred in freezing weather, adding a significant safety risk to the attempted crossing.

The four men discovered in Taylor's vehicle included three Indian nationals and one person from Canada, according to the case details. Their presence in the vehicle led Border Patrol agents to investigate whether Taylor had been involved in transporting people who had entered the country unlawfully. Authorities subsequently linked her to an international smuggling operation that sought to move people across the northern US border.
