Spielberg Says Aliens May Have Already Reached Earth, ‘They Are Here’ Claim Raises Debate

Steven Spielberg believes aliens may already have reached Earth.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg has said he believes extraterrestrial life may already have visited Earth, adding that he is convinced alien beings could still be present today. His remarks were made during a recent appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, where he discussed his upcoming project Disclosure Day and reflected on his long-standing fascination with unidentified aerial phenomena and space exploration.

Spielberg, widely known for shaping modern science-fiction cinema through films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, said his belief is based on what he described as “circumstantial evidence” accumulated over decades, including public testimonies and discussions around unidentified aerial phenomena. He stated that, in his view, it is entirely possible that extraterrestrial beings have already visited Earth and may even still be present.

During the interview, he said, “Based on the circumstantial evidence of everything that I’ve gathered throughout my whole life and all the testimonies in Congress that I’ve heard, I absolutely think that they have been here and they are here. And who knows, maybe they’ve always been here.” His comments have added to ongoing global discussions about UAPs, which have gained renewed attention in recent years through government disclosures and military reports.

Despite his strong belief, Spielberg clarified that he has never personally experienced or witnessed any paranormal or extraterrestrial encounter. He humorously added that, given his decades-long engagement with the subject through film and storytelling, he feels he “deserves” such an experience, though none has occurred so far.

In a separate conversation with USA Today, Spielberg reflected on how his perspective on extraterrestrial life has evolved over time. He explained that when he made Close Encounters of the Third Kind, his approach was rooted in imagination and curiosity rather than certainty. At that time, he described his work as “science speculation” rather than pure science fiction, emphasizing his openness to the idea of life beyond Earth while remaining unsure about direct contact.

He added that developments in the 21st century, particularly increased access to visual data and widespread documentation through personal devices, have strengthened his belief that humanity may not be alone in the universe. According to him, the growing body of publicly available material has made the question of extraterrestrial existence more compelling and harder to dismiss.

Spielberg’s comments come amid heightened public interest in UFOs and government transparency regarding unexplained aerial sightings. While his statements reflect personal belief rather than scientific confirmation, they have reignited debate around the possibility of intelligent life beyond Earth, a theme that has long defined much of his creative legacy.
