Six Injured After Speeding SUV Crashes Into Kedar Kashyap’s Convoy In Chhattisgarh

At least six people, including four police personnel, were injured after a speeding SUV crashed into the convoy of Chhattisgarh Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap near Junwani on the Jagdalpur-Kondagaon border on Sunday, officials said. Kashyap, who was travelling with the convoy, escaped the collision without any serious injuries. The accident occurred while the minister's convoy was travelling from Farsaguda towards Kondagaon, with the impact causing substantial damage to one of the vehicles and triggering a major emergency response at the scene.

According to police officials, a Scorpio travelling from the opposite direction suddenly rammed into the minister's car near Junwani. The SUV then lost control and crashed into the follow vehicle that was travelling behind the minister's car. The collision was severe enough to cause significant damage to the follow vehicle, which was carrying police personnel deployed as part of the minister's security detail. The crash also caused panic among those present at the scene as emergency assistance was arranged for the injured.

Four police personnel travelling in the follow vehicle sustained injuries in the accident. Officials said their condition was serious and they were subsequently referred to Raipur for advanced medical treatment. A woman personal assistant accompanying the minister was also injured in the collision. The minister himself remained safe and did not suffer any serious injuries, officials said. The injured personnel were taken for medical care after the accident, with authorities focusing on stabilising those who had sustained more severe injuries.

Kashyap later addressed the accident through a post on X, saying the incident occurred on the Jagdalpur-Kondagaon route near Bhanpuri and involved the convoy's follow vehicle. He said the injured personnel were immediately taken to hospital and that he had enquired about their health. Kashyap also said he had directed doctors to ensure that the injured police personnel received appropriate and better treatment. His statement highlighted the immediate medical response following the crash and the condition of the security personnel involved.

The accident occurred when the minister's convoy was travelling between Farsaguda and Kondagaon. Police said the Scorpio approached from the opposite direction before colliding with the minister's vehicle and subsequently striking the follow vehicle. The sequence resulted in multiple people being injured and left the follow vehicle significantly damaged. The details provided by officials indicate that the sudden movement of the SUV played a central role in the crash, although further investigation may establish the precise circumstances surrounding the collision.

The four injured police personnel have been referred to Raipur for advanced treatment because of the seriousness of their injuries. Medical teams were also attending to the other injured individuals, including the minister's personal assistant. The accident has raised attention because of the involvement of a ministerial convoy and the number of security personnel injured in the crash. Authorities are expected to examine the circumstances of the collision as part of the investigation.

Despite the severity of the crash, Kashyap escaped without serious injury. The immediate priority remained the treatment and safe transfer of those injured, particularly the four police personnel who required advanced medical care in Raipur. The minister said he had personally enquired about the injured personnel and instructed doctors to provide appropriate treatment.
