SHARK HORROR..! Paradise Turned into A Nightmare Holiday
A grim story of a holiday turning into a nightmare has surfaced this morning, where a Russian tourist in Philippines was mauled to death by sharks while on a scuba diving expedition.
A paradise dive turned into a nightmare for two Russian tourists off Verde Island, Batangas, as one was savaged by sharks and another drowned in a freak underwater disaster. The pair, part of a group of four Russians scuba diving south of Manila, were swept away by brutal undercurrents on Thursday, leaving their holiday in tatters.
Philippine Coast Guard commander Capt. Airland Lapitan confirmed the grim fate of Ilia Peregudin, 29, and Maksim Melekhov, 39. The group of 4 had set out from Puerto Galera with a Filipino instructor when the currents struck. Two Russians and the instructor surfaced, but Peregudin and Melekhov vanished beneath the waves. A frantic search ensued, with Melekhov found unconscious an hour later—pronounced dead at a Batangas hospital.
Peregudin’s end was even grislier. “Sharks were tearing at him when we found him,” Lapitan revealed. “His right arm was gone, severed clean off.” Rescuers battled the beasts to retrieve him, but it was too late. The Verde Island Passage, famed for its biodiversity, showed its deadly side.
The surviving divers made it back to their boat, shaken but alive. Authorities are now probing the tragedy, vowing to tighten safety at this hotspot teeming with marine life—and lurking danger. Posts on X buzzed with shock, some linking a shark-caught arm in Palawan to the attack. For now, a dream trip has ended in a watery grave.
