Sagar Adani on Middle East Crisis: Why India's Energy Resilience is Its Strongest Shield
Adani Group executive calls energy resilience India's best defence against Gulf market disruptions
Sagar Adani, executive of the Adani Group, has said that ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and shifting energy alliances could either disrupt or ultimately stabilise global energy markets. His remarks come amid rising concerns over regional instability in the Middle East, which has raised fears of potential fuel supply disruptions and volatility in global oil trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking on the evolving situation, Sagar Adani noted that India’s strong diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates and other regional partners place it in a relatively secure position compared to many other countries. He suggested that changes in Gulf energy strategies, including shifting investment priorities and trade alignments, may not necessarily harm India and could instead contribute to long-term market stability.
He further emphasised that global conflicts in West Asia remain a “lose-lose situation” for all parties involved, including major global powers and regional players. According to him, uncertainty in the region continues to pose risks to energy security worldwide. However, he added that India is actively working to reduce its vulnerability to such external shocks through a focus on strengthening domestic energy systems.

A key strategy highlighted by Sagar Adani is India’s push towards “energy resilience,” which includes expanding renewable energy capacity and reducing dependence on imported fuels. The Adani Group has also announced large-scale investments in green energy infrastructure, targeting significant capacity expansion by 2030. He concluded that India’s focus on self-reliant energy production and policy support from the government is helping the country better withstand global market disruptions while supporting long-term energy security goals.
