S-400 Triumphs in Op Sindoor, Makes First Appearance at Republic Day Parade
S-400, key in Op Sindoor, debuts in Republic Day parade tableau.
India is set to showcase the S-400 air defence system for the first time at the Republic Day parade, highlighting its strategic capabilities. The system, part of the Department of Military Affairs tableau, is one of the most advanced surface-to-air missile systems in the world.
The S-400 played a decisive role during Operation Sindoor last year, intercepting and neutralising Pakistani missiles and aircraft. According to reports, it successfully brought down five to six fighter jets and one spy plane over 300 km inside Pakistani territory during the four-day conflict in May.
Military officials have described the system as a “game-changer” for India’s defence strategy, enhancing the country’s aerial and missile deterrence capabilities. Its inclusion in the parade underscores the Armed Forces’ focus on modernisation and operational readiness.

The display is also symbolic of India’s growing indigenous defence and technological capabilities. The S-400, with its long-range interception capacity, is expected to draw significant attention from both defence experts and the public.
Officials noted that the system’s operational deployment during Operation Sindoor demonstrated not just its technological sophistication but also the effectiveness of India’s coordinated defence strategy. It is considered a critical asset in safeguarding Indian airspace.
The Republic Day parade, held annually on January 26, will feature a host of military equipment, cultural tableaux, and performances, with the S-400 making its debut amid heightened public and media interest.
