Roof Collapse at Academy in Pakistan’s Hafizabad Kills Eight, Including Six Children
Eight dead, three injured in Pakistan academy collapse.
In a heart-wrenching incident in Hafizabad city, Punjab province, Pakistan, eight people, including six children, lost their lives when the roof of an academy collapsed on Saturday evening, September 20, 2025. The disaster struck approximately 120 kilometers northwest of Lahore, trapping two teachers and nine students under a pile of debris in a classroom, according to the Punjab Emergency Department Rescue 1122.
Rescue teams worked tirelessly at the site, managing to pull four students from the rubble alive. However, one of these students later succumbed to injuries in the hospital, bringing the death toll to eight. The victims included five students, aged between six and 10, and their two teachers, whose bodies were recovered and sent to the city mortuary. Three other survivors are receiving medical treatment for their injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the building’s structure was compromised by recent torrential rains, which likely weakened the roof and led to its sudden collapse. The academy, a place meant for learning and growth, turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.
