Report Highlights India-UAE Ties As A Model For BRICS Collaboration

Report highlights the growing India-UAE partnership within BRICS.

India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are deepening their strategic and economic partnership, with a new report describing the relationship as an effective model of cooperation within BRICS. The partnership is being driven by historic ties, shared interests and major initiatives aimed at strengthening trade, investment and logistics connectivity between the two countries and their wider markets.

According to the report published by Gulf Today, growing cooperation between India and the UAE reflects the UAE’s expanding role within BRICS. The relationship covers areas including trade, integrated logistics corridors, investment and innovation, while also providing opportunities for both countries to exchange expertise and perspectives. The partnership is also being positioned as part of efforts to develop more integrated and sustainable economic ties.

Bilateral trade between India and the UAE reached $101.25 billion in fiscal year 2025-26, marking the second consecutive year in which trade between the two countries crossed the $100-billion threshold. The two countries have set an ambitious target of increasing bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032, underlining the scale of their economic engagement and plans for further expansion.

Several initiatives are contributing to the development of the partnership, including Bharat Mart, the Virtual Trade Corridor and cooperation under the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). These projects are aimed at improving supply chain integration and creating additional channels for trade and investment between India, the UAE and international markets.

The India-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which came into operation in 2022, has also played an important role in expanding commercial ties. The agreement has supported greater movement of goods and services and created additional investment opportunities for businesses in both countries, strengthening the role of the private sector in bilateral economic cooperation.

The growing presence of Indian businesses in the UAE further reflects the depth of the relationship. The number of Indian companies registered as active members of Dubai Chamber reached 85,841 by the end of June 2026, after 7,579 new Indian firms joined during the first half of the year. The figure represented a 15 per cent year-on-year increase, highlighting continued interest among Indian businesses in the UAE market and reinforcing the economic partnership between the two countries.
