Rajnath Singh begins Hanoi visit to strengthen India-Vietnam defence and strategic cooperation.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Hanoi on Monday for a two-day official visit to Vietnam, marking a key diplomatic engagement aimed at strengthening India’s defence and strategic partnership with the Southeast Asian nation. The visit comes at a significant moment as India and Vietnam commemorate 10 years of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was recently elevated to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Upon arrival, Singh was welcomed by Indian diplomatic officials, with the Embassy of India in Hanoi highlighting that defence cooperation remains a central pillar of the India-Vietnam relationship. During his stay, the Defence Minister is also expected to meet members of the Indian community in Vietnam, reflecting the broader people-to-people dimension of the bilateral ties.

As part of his official engagements, Singh will hold detailed bilateral talks with Vietnam’s Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang. The discussions are expected to focus on expanding defence cooperation, strengthening military-to-military ties, and enhancing collaboration in areas such as maritime security and defence industry partnerships.
