Rahul Gandhi Criticises Uttarakhand Govt Over Retired Brigadier’s Death
Rahul Gandhi condemns Dehradun killing of retired Brigadier, calling Uttarakhand’s law and order ineffective.
Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday condemned the killing of retired Brigadier V.K. Joshi in Dehradun, calling the incident a “complete breakdown of law and order” in Uttarakhand. The incident occurred while the retired Army officer was out on a morning walk in the Rajpur area, leaving residents and political leaders alarmed.
In a post on X, Gandhi described the daylight killing as brutal and deeply concerning, asserting that the security situation in the state has deteriorated significantly. He emphasized that individuals who have dedicated their lives to safeguarding the nation are no longer safe in their own cities, while ordinary citizens are living under increasing fear due to rising incidents of violence.
Targeting the state government led by the BJP, Gandhi alleged that criminals feel more secure than law-abiding citizens. He noted that Uttarakhand, historically known for its peaceful environment, is now witnessing a surge in violence and insecurity, which he attributed to “ineffective and irresponsible leadership.”
