Rahul Gandhi: Bihar’s Yatra Has PM Modi Panicking

Rahul claims Voter Adhikar Yatra exposes BJP’s vote theft.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi declared that the overwhelming public response to the party’s Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar has left Prime Minister Narendra Modi “shaken,” accusing him of orchestrating “vote chori” (vote theft) through the Election Commission (EC). Speaking at the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan in Motihari on Thursday, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha alleged that the BJP and EC are manipulating voter lists to disenfranchise the poor, vowing to protect democratic rights ahead of Bihar’s upcoming assembly polls.

Gandhi claimed the EC added 1 crore new voters in Maharashtra post-Lok Sabha elections but refused to share voter lists, implying BJP’s influence. “I accuse the PM of vote chori daily, but he’s silent because he’s been caught,” Gandhi said, alleging similar manipulations in Karnataka and Haryana. He cited the deletion of 65 lakh names from Bihar’s electoral rolls, claiming they belonged to marginalized communities. “Even children call BJP leaders vote chor,” he remarked, emphasizing that the Constitution guarantees voting rights for all.

The Yatra, gaining momentum across Bihar, saw Gandhi joined by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, and other INDIA bloc representatives. Addressing enthusiastic crowds from an open-roof SUV in Motihari, Gandhi promised to expose more evidence of electoral fraud in the coming months. “Bihar won’t let the BJP and EC rob their votes,” he asserted, framing the Yatra as a movement to safeguard democracy.

Sukhu, in a post on X, hailed the Yatra as a “great campaign for democratic awareness,” stating, “Under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, Bihar has risen against vote theft and injustice. It’s a direct attack on democracy, and every Indian must protect the Constitution.” Earlier, Gandhi visited the Janaki Temple in Sitamarhi, connecting with locals before rallying supporters. The Yatra’s resonance with youth, farmers, and marginalized groups has intensified political heat, with Congress positioning itself as a defender of democratic rights against alleged BJP overreach.

As Bihar gears up for elections, Gandhi’s accusations of systemic voter suppression have sparked widespread debate. The BJP has dismissed the claims as baseless, while the EC maintains its impartiality. With the Yatra galvanizing public support, the controversy could reshape Bihar’s electoral landscape, challenging the BJP’s dominance and raising critical questions about the integrity of India’s electoral processes.
