Rahul Gandhi Addresses Tribal Leaders, Makes Remarks On PM Modi’s Tenure
Rahul Gandhi claims PM Modi may not remain Prime Minister within a year.
Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “will not be the Prime Minister in a year,” asserting that India’s political and institutional systems are undergoing a major internal shift. He made the remarks while addressing tribal leaders at an event organised by the Adivasi Congress at Indira Bhawan in New Delhi.
Gandhi said the system that was once under the control of the Prime Minister was “shaken and collapsing internally,” and alleged that it was now providing information to him about the government’s functioning. He further claimed that there is growing institutional unrest within the system and described it as an “internal revolt” driven by public pressure and dissatisfaction.
The Congress leader also warned of what he described as an impending “economic tsunami,” saying rising prices and economic stress were only the beginning of a deeper financial crisis. He argued that India’s economic “protection mechanisms” had been dismantled, making the country more vulnerable to global economic shocks.

Gandhi further alleged that key institutions, including the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies, were under pressure and expressed concern over the state of electoral processes. He claimed that public anger could intensify if citizens begin to believe that the electoral system is compromised, adding that such a situation could create serious political consequences.
He also suggested that growing public pressure and institutional instability could lead to extreme political responses, including the possibility of authoritarian measures. However, he did not provide specific evidence for these claims during his address.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions between the Congress and the ruling BJP, with both parties frequently exchanging sharp criticism over governance, institutions, and economic management. The BJP has consistently rejected similar allegations made by Opposition leaders, calling them unfounded and politically motivated.
Gandhi concluded by reiterating that internal changes within the system are already underway, claiming that even top government leaders are aware of shifting dynamics. His comments are expected to further intensify the political debate in the run-up to upcoming elections.
