Qatar Denounces Iranian Missile Attacks, Calls for Dialogue to Prevent Regional Escalation
Qatar condemns Iranian missile strikes, warns of response, urges dialogue to prevent wider Gulf conflict.
Qatar has strongly condemned what it described as a “treacherous Iranian aggression” following ballistic missile strikes targeting its territory and those of other Gulf states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs termed the missile attacks a direct assault on Qatari security, a violation of sovereignty, and an “unacceptable escalation” threatening regional stability.
Qatar stressed that it reserves the full right to respond under international law, proportionate to the aggression, to safeguard its national security and interests. The country emphasized that it has historically promoted dialogue with Iran and sought peaceful resolution of differences to avoid escalation, but the renewed attacks undermine these efforts.
The statement also condemned Iran’s strikes on Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, and Bahrain, affirming Qatar’s solidarity with these “sister states” in defending their sovereignty and security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged:
-
An immediate halt to escalatory actions
-
A return to diplomatic dialogue
-
The use of reason and restraint to contain the crisis
-
Measures to prevent wider conflict in the Gulf region
This condemnation came in the wake of a major escalation, as US President Donald Trump confirmed the initiation of “major combat operations” in Iran, reflecting a dramatic intensification of hostilities in a strategically sensitive part of the world.
Qatar’s response highlights the delicate balance Gulf states are trying to maintain between sovereignty, regional security, and diplomatic engagement amid the unfolding Israel-Iran conflict. Its emphasis on dialogue and proportional response underscores its role as a cautious mediator and advocate of regional stability, while standing firm against violations of its territorial integrity.
