Putin Jokes Off Trump’s ‘Conspiracy Against U.S.’
Putin dismisses Trump’s post about global conspiracy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin downplayed a provocative social media post by U.S. President Donald Trump, who accused him of conspiring with Chinese and North Korean leaders against the United States. Speaking at a news conference in Beijing on Wednesday, Putin responded with a smirk, saying, “The President of the United States is not without a sense of humour.”
The exchange stems from Trump’s reaction to Putin’s four-day visit to China, which began Sunday. During the trip, Putin attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, held extensive talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un after a military parade marking 80 years since the end of World War II. Trump’s post, addressed to Xi, read: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America.”
Putin dismissed the accusation, noting that no leaders he met in China expressed negative views about the current U.S. administration. “Over these four days, in both formal and informal settings, everyone supported our meeting in Anchorage,” he said, referring to his August 15 talks with Trump in Alaska, where discussions focused on ending Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The Anchorage meeting, a rare diplomatic engagement, has fueled speculation about U.S.-Russia relations amid ongoing global tensions. Putin claimed that leaders he spoke with in China expressed hope that the talks would lead to progress on Ukraine, though details remain scarce. Trump’s post, meanwhile, reflects his characteristic flair for stirring controversy, keeping the spotlight on U.S. foreign policy challenges.
