PTI Raises Alarm Over Secret Hospital Transfer Plan for Imran Khan
PTI claims secret plan to transfer Imran Khan from jail to hospital without family knowledge, calling it a risk to his life.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised serious concerns over reports suggesting that former Prime Minister Imran Khan may be secretly transferred from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi to a hospital for medical treatment. The party described the alleged move as a potential threat to Khan’s life and a violation of his fundamental rights.
PTI stated that Khan’s family has not been informed about the transfer, urging authorities to ensure that any medical intervention is conducted in the presence of his personal doctors and at least one family member. The party warned against secrecy, claiming it echoes previous patterns of neglect regarding Khan’s healthcare in custody.
The former Prime Minister is reportedly suffering from multiple health issues, including vision loss in his right eye, according to local media reports. For months, Khan’s family and legal representatives have accused prison authorities of failing to provide adequate healthcare, prompting public protests and legal interventions.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the formation of a medical board to examine Khan’s eyes. Meanwhile, opposition groups, including the Tehreek Tahafuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP) alliance, staged demonstrations outside Parliament House demanding that Khan be admitted to Al-Shifa Hospital without delay.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 following his arrest at his Lahore residence in a corruption case. He is currently lodged at the high-security Adiala Jail, and PTI has warned that withholding proper medical care constitutes “inhumane treatment” and endangers his life.
The PTI statement stressed that prison regulations require authorities to notify family members and designated doctors before arranging any medical check-ups or transfers. The party demanded immediate action to safeguard Khan’s health, asserting that no compromise will be tolerated regarding his well-being.
