President Trump and I Share a Deep Bond of Trust, Says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a podcast with Lex Fridman on Sunday, emphasized the deep bond of mutual trust he shares with US President Donald Trump, rooted in their unwavering commitment to their nations’ interests. Modi praised Trump as a courageous leader who makes independent decisions and remains dedicated to the United States, a spirit evident when he survived an assassination attempt during last year’s election campaign.

Modi noted that Trump appears far more prepared for his second term, stating, “He has a clear roadmap in his mind with well-defined steps, each one designed to lead him toward his goals.” Reflecting on his recent US visit, Modi expressed confidence in Trump’s team, including Vice President J D Vance, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Elon Musk. “I truly believe he has put together a strong, capable group… fully capable of implementing President Trump’s vision,” he said.

Recalling the 2019 ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston, Modi highlighted Trump’s humility, noting, “The President of the United States sitting in the audience while I spoke from the stage, that was a remarkable gesture on his part.” He also shared a spontaneous moment when Trump joined him to greet the crowd, despite security concerns, adding, “It showed me that this man had courage… he trusted me and my lead in that moment enough to have walked with me into the crowd.”

Modi drew parallels between their leadership, saying, “Even after being shot, he remained unwaveringly dedicated to America… just as I believe in nation first – India first.” He attributed their connection to this shared “nation-first” ethos, lamenting that media often distorts perceptions of politicians, obscuring genuine personal bonds.
